A tale of two car jump starters.

My car has battery has been running low/flat since I've not been using it regularly during lockdown so I figured it was time to grab a car jump starting battery pack to help me get it started.

To be fair I didn't think much about the features I wanted but found one in a price range I found inoffensive and ordered it from amazon. I briefly remember thinking that USB-C would be a good feature to have and remembered seeing it on the listing.

But wait a minute, the photo doesn't show any USB-C ports.

As I had already ordered this I figured I'd wait until it was delivered and see if the listing or the photo was wrong. As long as I don't use it I should be able to return it within 14 days for a full refund.

It arrived and it didn't have a USB-C port, before I started the returns process I thought I'd drop the seller a line to let them know their listing is wrong and see what their response was.

I ordered the Car Jump Starter as it listed "Multi-function and Type-C connector". Where is this connector?

We've changed our details page, thank you for your reminding.
We can send you a upgrade Jump starter, could you please confirm is this address correct?

Do you require me to return the current Jump Starter ?
The cost of your suggested replacement is more than what I paid for the current Jump Starter, do you require me to pay the difference ?
What is the power output of the USB C connector on the replacement Jump Starter ?

USB can support output, type C only support input power.

Well, that's confusing as the linked product said it did in two places.

 

So, I bought a car jump starter and I'm being sent a second for free. As customer service goes that is really impressive. I think I could still return the first as I'm still withing 14 days and it is in as-new condition.

I have received the replacement and after a quick test it does not provide power over USB-C, it only uses it as an input. I have sent the seller a message to let them know.
